Squidoo.com - Nothing New, but it’s still nice
Squidoo has been around for a little while now and I’ve, only recently, begun to experiment with it… as not just a money maker, but as a traffic source for bloggercamp.
I created a lens based on an older holiday entry of mine “Top 10 Christmas Gifts for Bloggers” - I’ve titled it “Best Gift Ideas for Bloggers” It’s nothing special, but after publishing it, it has climbed to a Overall LensRank of 6,365 and 686 is the shopping category. Not bad considering it’s only been published for about a week.
The only publicity I’ve done aside from this blog entry, is to post a link to it with Stumbleupon. I have yet to see any revenue from it, but I’ve received a few hits to bloggercamp from it. I’m looking to add a few more lenses on subjects I’m interested in and I’ll try and show you all how to get in some of the top spots as I personally climb the ranks.
So join Squidoo and make a go at it.

Cool - 686 is nice ranking. Hint about Squidoo - check back in and update the page every now and then - even if it’s small edits and moving stuff around.
Also, stars make a big difference to the lens rank. If your lens falls off the top 100,000 it enters a dead zone without inlinks :-(

Oh, one more thing about Squidoo… there’s a panel to the right for “More great lenses”. One of my lenses hit that list one week. The traffic went absolutely bonkers on the lens that week (then died the week after!).
Likely the reason is that this panel with my lens appeared on hundreds of other lenses so helped both direct clicks and search engine rankings for my lens.

I’ve had good luck with Squidoo driving traffic to my sites. I did have to do some linking to my lens to get it rank high for keywords. Currently, my squidoo lens is #3 in Google and my site is #7 for main keyword not bad for a 3 month old site. Not sure what this will do long term.
