My last post, Search Engine Optimization can go to Hell? was a type of personal exercise that I let you all in on.
If you couldn’t tell, there as a ton of negativity towards the ins and outs of SEO and how much time it really takes to get a handle on the subject. One point I made, “No matter what SEO hat your wear, it comes down to gaming a certain system”, rings true for any endeavor that you take on. It doesn’t just apply to search engines either, it applies to everyday life. I didn’t really mean, stop reading my SEO tips, because I genuinely know them to work, I just meant focus on the real content that I bring. Not all these mashup on a whim posts that have very little to offer.
That last post was sort of a “mile marker” for me, it let me know that I have found some dedication to not just this blog, but all my efforts in this crazy world wide web(series of tubes). I am focusing on just my content now. I won’t do any advertising, no link exchanges, nothing.
I’ll continue to comment on blogs I find worthy, participate in forums, and hope search engine results as well as word of mouth will increase BloggerCamp’s popularity. This is a big step for me, I’ve removed all TLA, all Google Ads, all affiliate links etc from BloggerCamp (I was making nearly $185 a month for the past 2 1/2 months). With this being a really new blog I know that I might be making a mistake in this but I feel as though my content has been lacking so I don’t deserve to get that kind of income yet.
Am I crazy? Probably, but one thing the Air Force left me with was integrity, not just with you, but with myself. I encourage you to do something similar, especially if your income from blogging/minisites is something you could live without temporarily.
My content may be king… but I am still the ruler.
